What belongs in a site report?
A site report (also called a site diary) should record at least the following for each day or work stage:
- Date and weather conditions
- Staff present and their trades
- Working hours
- Work carried out
- Material used
- Notable incidents and obstructions
- Defects identified, with status (open/resolved)
- Photos for documentation
Why a report matters
A gapless report protects you in disputes over delays, additional work or defects – whoever has documented the construction process in a traceable way is in a much stronger position if there's doubt.
